The Office of the College Attorney is now known as the Division of Legal Affairs, and has restructured its operation to provide improved service to the campus community.
Traevena Byrd will serve as Assistant Counsel and Director of Equal Opportunity Compliance. In Traevena’s role as Assistant Counsel, she will be responsible for all campus inquiries to Counsel’s office related to copyright, intellectual property, and immigration. Traevena will continue her work with affirmative action, equal opportunity compliance, and investigation of discrimination and sexual harassment complaints. Bonnie LeBlanc will continue to support the work of Traevena.
Deb Emnett who has served as Executive Secretary in the Division, will now serve in the role of Legal Assistant/Office Manager. Deb will be the first point of contact for contract reviews. She will also assume responsibility for updating the Ithaca College Policy Manual, conduct legal research on issues presented to Counsel’s office, work on legal projects, and provide support to the Board of Trustees.
Kris Slaght has been appointed as the Risk Management Coordinator. In her role, Kris will work with the campus community in reviewing indemnification and insurance language in contracts, assisting with certificates of insurance, and assuming responsibility for the College’s casualty and insurance program. Kris will work closely with Nancy Pringle in the ongoing development of the College’s risk management program.
