Krista Scott, Theatre Arts Voice & Speech specialist, presents at two conferences
Krista Scott, assistant professor, presented scholarship at two conferences in August. At the annual conference for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) held in Chicago, she presented on “Why I...PA?” panel with three colleagues addressing the usage of the International Phonetic Alphabet as a basis for speech training for actors in various training program styles and levels. At the annual conference of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA), also held in Chicago, she was one of four panelists addressing the topic of “Teaching Voice for Actors Outside the United States,” in which she drew upon her experiences teaching performance at The American University in Cairo to base an approach toward a voice/speech teaching assignment in a foreign country. These panels mark the third consecutive year that Ms. Scott has presented at both of these annually held international conferences.
