Ithaca College is a partner in Ithaca City of Asylum, which sponsors writers exiled from their country for exercising rights of expression.
Sarah Mkohnza of Swaziland, a linguistics professor and fiction writer, was harassed into exile for her views on treatment of women and on the government's response to HIV, which infects 38% of adults in her country. She will read from her work at 3:00pm, Sunday on September 24 at the Unitarian Church. The event is free, and includes a performance by Ghanaian musician Samite.
