“Goddesses and Rebels" at Upcoming Voice Recital

Soprano Patrice Pastore, a member of the voice faculty at the Ithaca College School of Music, will present a free concert of “Goddesses and Rebels” on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. All of the music on the program has a contemporary flavor and has either a woman poet or composer. Pianists Diane Birr and Andrea Merrill will collaborate with Pastore for this concert, which will include music by Copland, Bernstein, Musto, Tann, Hoiby, Walton, Britten and others.

Besides teaching at Ithaca College, Pastore is a faculty member and performing artist for the Rising Star Singers Institute. She was previously on the faculty of Clark University and the New England Conservatory of Music. She has worked with Gunther Schuller, Joseph Schwantner, George Crumb, Lukas Foss, John Harbison, Chen Yi, and Libby Larsen, and performed with the Birch Creek Summer Festival, Grandin Festival, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Ithaca Opera, Hangar Theatre, and the Opera Theatre of Lucca.
