Ithaca College’s Office of International Programs and the Classical Studies Program will host a visit by a representative of College Year in Athens, a non-affiliated study abroad program based in Greece. An informal presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 10 at 12:10-1:00 in Klingenstein Lounge. All interested students and faculty are invited to bring a lunch and discuss study abroad in Greece.
Since 1962, College Year in Athens, in association with the International Center for Hellenic and Mediterranean Studies, has offered opportunities to experience the unique historical and cultural contributions of Greece and the surrounding region. CYA offers university-level courses taught in English, emphasizing in-the-field learning and daily interaction with the people, landscape, and monuments of Greece. Courses in Ancient and Modern Greek are offered, as well as programs on art, archeology, history, politics, economics, and many other subjects.

Details about participation in a non-affiliated study abroad program:
College Year in Athens is a non-affiliated study abroad opportunity. Students who go on a non-affiliated program must take a leave of absence from Ithaca College if studying abroad for a semester or year. Credits taken on a non-affiliated program can transfer back, provided the student completes and submits appropriate paperwork, and earns grades of C- or better in the classes. Grades from non-affiliated programs do not transfer, and will not have an impact on the student’s cumulative GPA.
Students who participate in non-affiliated programs are not eligible to receive any Ithaca College institutional financial aid (scholarships, grants, etc.) for the study abroad semester. Federal financial aid, however, is eligible to transfer to the costs of a non-affiliated program. A $415 study abroad administrative fee is charged when students participate in a non-affiliated semester program.
