Campaign Launch a Great Success

We would like to thank any and all involved in Thursday’s successful launch of the largest comprehensive campaign in IC history.

More than 400 alumni, parents, and friends joined faculty, staff, and students on campus for the event. The campus-wide launch included an address by Robert A. Iger ’73, president and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company; receptions hosted by each of the College’s five schools and the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies; and an evening celebration.

To date, we have raised $92.6 million toward the $115 million campaign goal. In order to meet all six of the campaign objectives, we will need to raise an additional $22.4 million by early 2008. Those objectives include:
• $6 million to endow new academic programs, enhance existing ones, and support faculty development;
• $30 million to increase endowed scholarship aid, thereby decreasing the College’s dependence on tuition revenue;
• $17 million to construct a new School of Business building that will seek platinum-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council;
• $20 million to build a new athletics and events center, expected to cost $35 million;
• $34 million to provide additional student housing (this objective has already been met); and
• $8 million to ensure continued support of the Ithaca Fund, which provides visiting scholars and artists, faculty/student research opportunities, library enhancements, and student financial aid.

Over the next year, we will be calling on all of you to participate in creating a stronger, more vibrant institution through your support of the Campaign for Ithaca College. Together, we can and will make a world of difference for future generations of Ithaca College students.
