The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to announce that the exhibition "Itty Neuhaus: Common Ground" opens on November 9. The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Itty Neuhaus will also speak about her work at the Handwerker Gallery at 12.15 p.m. on Thursday, November 9.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Neuhaus is an assistant professor of art at SUNY New Paltz. In her sculpture, video installations, and collages, light is the agent of transformation and the element that brings ordinary materials to life.
Itty Neuhaus: Common Ground features work inspired by glacial geology, botany and biology and speaks of the fragility of life’s processes, as well as a new body of work related to her family's emigration from Nazi Germany, which is a more direct experience of the precariousness of life.
The exhibition runs through December 21. For further information please contact Cheryl Kramer, Handwerker Gallery Director, at (607) 274-3548.
