The college's online directory has become the primary source for obtaining email addresses and phone numbers for the campus community. In response to requests from students for more privacy control, Information Technology Services and Student Affairs and Campus Life have teamed up to make some changes to how the online directory works.
Starting on Thursday, November 16, 2006, students will have the option to log into the online directory and customize what contact information is available to the IC community and what contact information is available to anyone who accesses the online directory.
Students can now separately customize what is seen by the internal Ithaca College Community and what is seen by anyone who publicly accesses the College directory.
Less information is now posted about students. Only name, school, class year, major and email address will be listed automatically. Students now have the option to choose whether or not they want to display their address and phone number. Students also have the added opportunity to include an alternate email address, instant messenger screen names, and a personal web address.
Please note that members of the Ithaca College community must now log-in to see if additional information has been shared by students on the internal web directory. Ithaca College community members will be able to see the information students have chosen to list as public information without being asked to log-in.
