Not sure about heading to "Food Frenzy" - the annual culinary showcase hosted by Dining Services? In addition to the great food, fun, and fellowship - you can add "philanthropy" to the list!

In conjunction with the college's Poverty Challenge, we will be sponsoring a silent auction - with all the proceeds to benefit Foodnet. Check intercom next week for a list of auction items supplied by the showcase vendors!

Here is some information about Foodnet:
Foodnet Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit corporation under contract with the Tompkins County Office for the Aging to supply nutritionally balanced hot meals daily (5 days/week) to Tompkins County residents 60 years of age or older. Meals are either home-delivered or served at congregate meal sites throughout the county. Home-delivered Meals on Wheels participants may also receive a supplemental sandwich meal and / or two frozen weekend meals.

In addition to providing meals, Foodnet also provides nutrition education and counseling to its clients as part of the program. The major goal is to help clients better understand and meet their nutritional needs. This helps them to better prevent or manage chronic illness and reduce their need for care.
