Find out about a new learning community on campus centerd around outdoor adventure at our info sessions. The application deadline for this program is February 9, 2007.
The Outdoor Adventure Leadership Community (OALC) is a new living-learning community offered to Ithaca students. This learning community will be located on the first floor of Terrace 8 starting next fall, and students can apply to live in this community during the upcoming Spring 2007 lottery process. Chris Pelchat, a faculty member in Therapeutic Rec and Leisure Services, will be the OALC faculty advisor, and he brings a wealth of knowledge, practice, and energy to this position and community.
This unique living experience has a strong programming focus that will allow its members to develop outdoor adventure skills, participate in local and overnight trips, and take time outside of the classroom to reflect on personal development. Some of the programming aspects include: land and water adventure trips, wellness initiatives, survival skills, sustainability and environmental issues, and other outdoor adventure related topics. No experience is necessary to be a part of this community, only an appreciation of nature and desire to meet others with a shared interest of enjoying the beautiful outdoors!
For more information, there will be two information sessions: Sunday, February 4 at 6:00 PM in Clark Lounge (located in the Campus Center) and Monday, February 5 at 6:00 PM in Tallcott Lounge (located in the upper quads) and informational tables will be set up in Textor and the North Foyer this week.
