Syracuse Symphony bass trombonist Jeffrey Gray will give a free faculty recital on Wednesday, February 14, at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. He will be joined by pianist Andrea Merrill, trombonist Harold Reynolds, and members of the Ithaca College Trombone Troupe. The program features music of Sachse, Woud, Pederson, and Gregson.
Bass trombonist Jeffrey Gray was appointed to the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra in 2000. He is also the bass trombonist with the Grant Park Orchestra. Gray received his formal music training at Bowling Green State University and the Juilliard School. In 2000 Gray was the winner of two international competitions, the Donald Yaxley Solo Competition and the Lewis Van Haney Competition. He performed at the 2000 International Trombone Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Other orchestras with which Gray has performed are the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the National Repertory Orchestra. In addition to serving on the faculty at Ithaca College, Gray is on the faculty at Le Moyne College, where he is the instructor of low brass and the brass ensemble director.
