Ithaca College Will Celebrate Black History Month with a Free Concert

Ithaca College will celebrate Black History Month on Saturday, Feb. 17, with a free concert featuring a host of singers and other performers. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The concert will feature performers from the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Utica, Ithaca Children’s Choir from the Community School of the Arts, Community Unity Music Education Project and Voices multicultural chorus along with Ghanaian master xylophonist Bernard Woma. In addition, Locksley Edmondson, professor of African studies at Cornell University, will read from Dorothy Cotton’s works. The coordinator of the event is Baruch Whitehead, assistant professor of music education and conductor of the Voices multicultural choir.
