Ithaca College senior Charles Shelton won top honors for speaking in the 2007 Northeast Regional Speech and Debate Championship.
Finishing with a 3-1 preliminary record, Shelton lost on a 2-1 decision to Saint Anselm College in the semifinals. In addition, he was ranked as the best speaker in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate portion of the tournament.
The event was held at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire, on February 24. Invited to the tournament were schools from Pennsylvania, New York, and all of New England. (The picture is from an article in the February 25 issue of the Sunday Citizen of Laconia, New Hampshire.)
