"Stringless in Seattle" is the theme of an upcoming free recital by Ithaca College faculty pianist Jairo Geronymo, guest violinist Svend Rønning, and cellist Heidi Hoffman on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The program includes a Bach Partita for solo violin and a Brahms piano trio.
Jairo Geronymo has performed with the Brazilian Symphony in Rio de Janeiro; the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra; the Mesa Symphony; the orchestra of Pacific Lutheran University, and other orchestras in Washington. He is an active recitalist, collaborative musician, adjudicator and presenter in the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Portugal. He formerly taught at Western Washington University and Pacific Lutheran University.
Svend Rønning is chair of the string division at Pacific Lutheran University and serves as concertmaster of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and the Tacoma Opera. He is also artistic director designate of the Second City Chamber Series, Tacoma's award winning producer of chamber music concerts and chamber music educational programs.
Svend Ronning has appeared in venues around the world, including the Aspen, Eastern, Harkness, Jerusalem, Methow, Pacific, Rhode Island, Spoleto and Wintergreen Music Festivals, and has served as concertmaster of various orchestras including the Charlottesville Symphony, the San Jose Symphony, and the Spoleto U.S.A. Chamber Orchestra.
Heidi Hoffman has toured the United States, South America, Europe and Japan with such groups as the American Symphony, Jupiter Symphony, and Tchaikovsky Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed with the Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship Orchestra, Northwest Sinfonietta and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
