Alzheimer’s Disease and other types of age-related dementia affect an estimated five million older people in the United States and impact the lives of at least fifteen million family members.
Dementia and Aging (GERO 39901-01), a three credit hour course taught by Chris Pogorzala (Gerontology Institute), covers information on causes, treatment, care management and caregiving issues related to different types of dementia. This course also examines the broader social and political issues related to Alzheimer’s disease in the U.S. and other countries.
Prerequisites: GERO 10100 (Introduction to Aging Studies) and one additional gerontology-related course at level 2 or above; or permission of the instructor. Course offered Tues/Thurs 10:50-12:05.
