Assistant professor Alan Gomez, of the Center for the Study of Race, Culture, and Ethnicity (CSCRE), made several presentations recently, including at a conference on race, punishment, and citizenship in California at San Jose State University (April); a lecture on "Civil Rights: Globalization, Labor, and Dignity," at Cornell (March); a talk on planning torture/resisting living death, also at Cornell (February); a lecture entitled, "From Below and to the Left: The Circulation of U.S. Third World Political Cultures," at the University of Houston; and a roundtable presentation at the American History Association in Georgia (January).
