Patricia Zimmermann, professor of cinema, photography, and media arts, and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF), recently conducted a three-day-long workshop, entitled "World Class Documentary," for the Nigerian Film Institute's Shoot!2007, held in Jos, Nigeria.

Zimmermann delivered three days of lectures on documentary theory and curated supplemental screenings showcasing documentaries and experimental works from Asia, Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Europe from the 2006 and 2007 Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival.

The "World Class Documentary" workshop was designed for capacity building for the professional broadcast journalism and documentary sectors of the Nigerian film industry, the third-largest film industry in the world. Participants included feature filmmakers, producers, independent filmmakers, cinematographers, broadcasters, and journalists from across Nigeria.

The Shoot!2007 event brought together international film industry professionals from the United States, Europe, and Africa to share ideas and strategies.
