As part of an agreement that Longview has developed with the Head Start Program housed there, one slot each year is made available to a Longview employee. If no Longview employee requests the slot, the opening then becomes available to a full-time Ithaca College employee. The Longview employee who had requested the space for the 2007-08 year unexpectedly decided that she will not need the space.
Anyone who is interested in this preschool slot should contact Robin Davis, Assistant Director of Benefits, at 274-3245 by THURSDAY, AUGUST 23rd at 5 pm. The deadline for notifying the Head Start Program is Friday, August 24th. A lottery drawing will be held on Friday morning.
The Head Start program is a free preschool, child care center for 3- to 5-year old children. There are generally income eligibility requirements for Head Start, but these do not apply to this opening. Children participate in a variety of activities to increase their language, social, physical, and cognitive abilities. The hours of the program are currently 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program follows the public school calendar for the most part, but it does not begin the first week of school.
