The Hammond Health Center will not be open for overnight care, closing from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on the following 13 days, due to a temporary staffing shortage:

Sunday, August 26
Monday, August 27
Tuesday, August 28
Wednesday, August 29
Sunday, September 2
Monday, September 3
Tuesday, September 4
Wednesday, September 5
Sunday, September 9
Monday, September 10
Tuesday September 11
Wednesday, September 12
Sunday September 16

The Health Center will be open around-the-clock as usual on all other dates, including Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during this time period. We are remaining open overnights during the highest demand part of each week in order to minimize the negative affect of this situation. We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary schedule change may cause.

We will have an on-call system to handle urgent problems that may arise during the nights we are closed. A registered nurse will be available by phone after 11:00 p.m. each of those nights to address medical concerns that cannot wait until morning. A Health Center physician or physician assistant will be available to consult with the on-call nurse, as always.

If you have a medical problem on any of the above nights between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., call the Health Center at 274-3177. You will be put in contact with an answering service that will collect essential information, and a nurse will call you back.

As always, if you have a serious or life-threatening emergency on campus contact the Office of Public Safety at 274-3333. Off campus, dial 911.

We plan to once again be open around-the-clock, without interruption, as of Monday September 17, and appreciate the campus community’s understanding.

David E. Newman, M.D.
Director, Ithaca College Student Health Services
