As we begin a new semester, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the campus policies regarding alcoholic beverages at campus events (https://www.ithaca.edu/attorney/policies/vol2/Volume_2-20808.htm#2080806).

For the 2007-2008 academic year, please be advised that a number of changes were made to the Campus Events and Alcohol Beverages Policy including:

1. Clarification of the definition of an “event sponsor.” – “For the purposes of this policy, an event sponsor is any department, office, organization or individual or group of faculty, staff and/or students who organize and plan an event.”

2. Further clarification about the responsibilities of an event sponsor (details can be found in the on-line policy).

3. The addition of a policy statement based on advice and interpretation from the New York State ABC Board that, “admission to an event with alcohol must either be restricted to those of legal drinking age, or a physically separate drinking area must be created within the event venue, with access to this drinking area restricted to those over the age of 21.”

Further information about the Campus Events and Alcoholic Beverages policy can be obtained through the Ithaca College Policy Manual, or from the Office of Conference and Event Services or the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement.
