FOUR DALAI LAMA EDUCATIONAL EVENTS
In preparation for the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to campus on October 10th, four educational events have been planned, which are open to everybody.
- 9/19, 8pm, Ithaca Falls Room, Campus Center
The Jew in the Lotus – using Roger Kamenetz’ book of that title (1994), Jewish Chaplain Michael Faber will discuss the interface between Jews and Buddhists, Buddhism and Judaism
- 9/26, 7-9pm, Textor 102
FILM: Compassion in Exile – the Story of the Dalai Lama, introduced by Prof. Brian Karafin, with discussion following the film
- 10/2, 8pm, Cayuga Lake Room, Campus Center
STORY NIGHT – “Tales of a Dalai Lama,” a book of short story fiction; selections read by Jewish Chaplain Michael Faber
- 10/4, Noon, Williams 221
Tibetan Buddhist Healing Goddesses – a look at several key healing deities;
led by Prof. Mara Alper, assisted by Mary Gilliland and Bernadette Fiocca.
