"The 'Endless Wakefulness' of Premier Chou in John Adams’s Opera, 'Nixon in China,'" presented by Timothy Johnson, associate professor of music theory. Thursday, September 20, 12:10-1:00 p.m. in the Cayuga Lake room of the Campus Center.
This presentation discusses the conflicted emotions of the Premier and how Adams depicts Chou’s feelings through the shape of melodic lines and through harmonic structure.
