"The Real Buzz: Truth and Lies About Campus Alcohol Use"
Monday, September 24, 8:00 p.m.
Emerson Suites

Look past the dramatic headlines and exaggerated stereotypes about drunken students. The truth is that most college students are making healthy decisions about alcohol, sex, and other important choices.

"The Real Buzz" is delivered in a way that is extremely funny and powerfully challenging. Using humor, storytelling and positive health promotion, David Hellstrom presents "The Real Buzz" in an engaging manner that avoids the scare tactics and dry facts and figures.

Instead, he talks to students about issues that really impact their lives: relationships, self-esteem, a great social life, and feeling like they are in charge of their own lives. David challenges students to get what they want out of life by making choices that return positive results, without putting themselves or their friends at risk.

David Hellstrom, director of education and training for the Bacchus & Gamma Peer Education Network, brings his nearly two decades of experience on alcohol issues to colleges and universities in his program, "The Real Buzz." This program is a great foundation for what our students need to know about alcohol and alcohol-related issues.

Although this presentation -- sponsored by the Student Activities Board and Office of Intercollegiate Athletics -- is geared toward students, it is free and open to the public.
