Rosendo Carillo de la Rosa, a Wixarika Indian (more commonly known as Huichol) and traditional artist from Jalisco, Mexico, will share his traditional art and culture in an interactive beading workshop on Thursday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m. in Friends 209.
Rosendo's art is made in the traditional way, by impressing brightly colored beads or string in beeswax on wood or gourds to make images and symbols that represent aspects of religion and belief systems that are completely intertwined in the Wixarika way of life.
Please join the School of Humanities and Sciences, the Department of Anthropology, and the Anthropology Club in an interactive workshop in which participants will learn about traditional Wixarika art and have an opportunity to create some of their own.
