The Rhythmicity Duo -- saxophonist Joseph Lulloff and pianist Jun Okada -- will present a free recital on Monday, October 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. Their program will include music of Denisov, Scelsi, and Charles Ruggiero's "Night Songs and Flights of Fancy."
Saxophonist Joseph Lulloff has been described by colleague Branford Marsalis as "a marvelous musician" whose "knowledge of music, along with his ability to embrace music normally considered outside the sphere, makes him a joy to listen to."
Lulloff performs regularly as a soloist in many of the most prestigious concert venues throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and Japan, as well as with leading symphony orchestras in America and abroad.
He has been featured at World Saxophone Congresses in Tokyo, Japan; Valencia, Spain; Nuremburg, Germany; Montreal, Canada; and Chicago. Critics regarded his three concert tours of Japan with pianist/composer Phillip Strange as unqualified successes.
In addition to an active solo career, Lulloff serves as principal saxophonist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and the Flint Symphony Orchestra.
