A free evening of African Drumming and Dance will be presented on Thursday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music at Ithaca College. Sulley Imoro, dance instructor for the Dagara Music Center in Medie, West Africa, will serve as artist in residence for this performance. Baruch Whitehead is the group's director.

Imoro is director and founder of the "Mbanba" Cultural Troupe of Tamale, instructor for the dance ensemble at the University of Ghana at Legon. He has performed in Poland, France, Germany, London, South Africa, Nigeria, and the United States. He is also cofounder of the Dagara Bewaa Culture Group, a 10-member West African dance troupe performing exclusively in the country of Ghana. Their performances portray music and dances ranging from spiritual, religious ritual, and traditional funeral marches to the recreational circular Bewaa Dance.
