Did you know that October is National Vegetarian Month?

Not only does this month honor vegetarians, but it also helps raise awareness about alternatives to eating meat and highlights the benefits to living a vegetarian lifestyle.

October is also National Fair Trade Month! Fair Trade empowers farmers and farm workers to lift themselves out of poverty by developing the business skills necessary to compete in the global marketplace. By guaranteeing minimum floor prices and social premiums, Fair Trade enables producers to invest in their farms and communities and to protect the environment. Fair Trade is much more than a fair price, as it entails fair labor conditions, direct trade, community organization, and environmental sustainability.

Join us for more information about vegetarianism and fair trade, and sample the special menu, on Monday, October 1, at the Towers Dining Hall during lunch. The Fresh Food Market menu will feature:

* Butternut squash soup
* Vegetarian lasagna
* Pasta salad
* Waldorf salad
