The Office of Academic Enrichment Services and the Office for New Student Programs have collaborated to design several workshops to help students succeed in the academic environment at Ithaca College.

In your work with students, we know you are likely to find students who would benefit from one of these workshops. Regardless of students' majors or years, any of the following topics could assist them as they continue to adjust to academic life:

Let's Take Note of This: Do your students have trouble taking "good" class notes or staying on top of and understanding all of their readings? This workshop is designed to help students identify tools for effective note taking during lectures and strategies for staying on top of and understanding required readings.

It's About Time: Are students paying more attention to new episodes of Grey's Anatomy than their lecture notes? This workshop will help students evaluate their current use of time and help them learn how to use schedules, calendars, and lists to maximize their study time.

This is Only a Test: Students often feel overwhelmed when preparing for or taking an exam. This workshop will help students learn how to successfully prepare for tests, implement strategies for taking specific types of tests, and manage test anxiety.

Facts of Life: Adjusting to college courses can be a challenge for even the best of students. It's a change of pace from life before college and this workshop provides an opportunity to help students identify where they should make adjustments to achieve more success. It introduces students to college-style time management and note-taking skills, as well as textbook-reading and test-preparation strategies.

If you would like to set up a Study Supporter workshop, please contact the Office for New Student Programs and let us know the following:

1. The group you are targeting.
2. A few possible dates and times for the workshop
3. A location for the workshop

Please call us at 274-1908 or email Cheryl Gunther at [mailto:cgunther@ithaca.edu]. We look forward to working with you and helping you provide students with the insights and tools they need to excel academically.
