First, let my extend my deep appreciation to all members of the campus community who participated in the meetings with our search consultants and trustees Sue Scanlon, David Stewart, Larry Alleva, and me at the beginning of October. The input of the campus community both at these meetings and through follow-up e-mails has been invaluable to our consultants in preparing the position specification document.

The Ithaca College Presidential Search Committee also met for the first time on Thursday, October 11, with our consultants from Witt/Kieffer.

Subsequently, the committee met by conference call to review and approve both the ad copy and the position specification document. The actual advertisement of the position has been placed with the Chronicle of Higher Education as well as other publications targeted at diverse populations. I invite you to go to www.ithaca.edu/president_search or visit the Ithaca College homepage and click on the Presidential Search link in the Highlights section to access both the position specification document and the ad copy. Both documents will be available on the website as of Monday, October 29.

In the next few months, the Presidential Search Committee will review materials submitted by candidates and, if everything proceeds on schedule, hopes to have finalists visiting the campus following spring break.

Between now and December 15, we would ask you to consider nominating individuals who you believe would be potential candidates for the presidency. We think you will find the position specification document helpful in framing your thinking in regard to nominations. Nominations may be made directly to Jean Dowdall and Lucy Leske at [mailto:ithaca@wittkieffer.com].

While the work of the search committee is by its nature confidential, we will continue to keep you informed of our progress as we proceed with this most important task. We look forward to our continuing work on behalf of the College community.
