One hundred and twenty-eight individual panels of the Quilt will be on display in the Emerson Suites at Ithaca College from November 26-28, 2007.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to spend one or two hours volunteering to read names, greet visitors, monitor the display and facilitate small groups of visitors.

One hundred and twenty-eight individual panels of the Quilt will be on display in the Emerson Suites at Ithaca College from November 26-28, 2007. This event is brought to you by Action for AIDS. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest on-going community arts project in the world. Each of the colorful panels in the Quilt was made to remember the life of a person lost to AIDS. Panels are 3ftx6ft- the size of a human grave. The Quilt stands for the sorrow, anger, love and hope of people who make panels.

As most community projects, it takes volunteers to put on an event of this magnitude. There are opportunities to read names, to greet visitors, to monitor the display and to facilitate small groups of visitors. Volunteers serve as a valuable component to providing a safe and peaceful experience for anyone viewing the Quilt and they are a resource of knowledge about the Quilt and basic HIV and AIDS information.

If you are interesting in volunteering for the Quilt, you will need to be available to attend the training session scheduled for Sunday, November 25th at 7pm. This training session will provide you with the basic knowledge you need and allow you to view the Quilt first-hand to understand the components to this project. We will provide you with dinner and you should plan on being there for 2 hours.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to be a part of an experience that will shed new light on this world health crisis and bring the reality of HIV/AIDS home. Either way, we look forward to seeing you at the Quilt!

Anyone interested in volunteering and able to attend the training session, should email kconrad@ithaca.edu with the following information:
