The New York-based education services company features the school in the just-published 2008 edition of the Best 290 Business Schools. The Princeton Review does not rank the schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 290, nor does it name one business school best overall.
According to Robert Franek, Princeton Review's vice president of publishing, "We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools. We are pleased to recommend Ithaca College to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA."
Best 290 Business Schools has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life, and admissions, plus ratings of schools' academics, selectivity, and career placement services.
In the profile on Ithaca College's MBA program, Princeton Review editors describe the school as "a balance between building technical and interpersonal skills," and say that "students praise professors for their hands-on teaching philosophy." They quote from students attending it who say, "The faculty is always willing to bend over backwards to meet students' academic and professional needs" and "most will work tirelessly with students to ensure they succeed."
In a "Survey Says ... " sidebar in the profile, the Princeton Review lists topics that the Ithaca MBA students who were surveyed for the book were most in agreement about. The list includes: "happy students" and "solid preparation in general management, operations, teamwork, and communication/interpersonal skills."
The Princeton Review's 80-question survey asked students about themselves, their career plans, and their school's academics, student body, and campus life.
