An Ithaca College employee has been honored by the Ithaca Rotary Club with a "Pride of Workmanship" award. Groundskeeper Victor Rosa was one of four local residents recognized at the October 31 award ceremony at the Holiday Inn.
For the past 13 years, the Rotary Club has honored outstanding area employees who meet the selection committee’s criteria of longevity in career, service that goes above and beyond normal expectations on a consistent basis, and clear contributions to an esprit de corps in the workplace.
The letter nominating Rosa for the award noted the work he does to ensure that the Ithaca College campus is graced with beautiful flower beds, particularly the main entrance that serves as the gateway for students, employees, and visitors. In addition to his green thumb, Rosa is a DJ who provides musical entertainment for a variety of functions, including the College’s annual employee picnic each June. He also hosts his own music program, Ritmo Latino, on College radio station WICB and is a member of the employee chorus, IC Voices.
As noted in the nominating letter, "From flowers to music, Victor is quite a guy, and he does it all with a smile and an extremely positive attitude. He indeed takes pride in everything he does, and we are extremely fortunate to have him as a member of the Ithaca College community."
