Ithaca College Toastmasters would like to invite members of the campus to attend a free presentation by 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking, Darren LaCroix, titled "Paths to Powerful Presentations: How I Went from Chump to Champ!" He will present in Klingenstein Lounge on Friday, November 16, at 1:00 p.m.

LaCroix was named the 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking by Toastmasters International following a grueling competition against contestants from 14 countries.

Have you ever experienced a presentation that put you to sleep? Ever given one? Have you ever seen a presenter bring a boring subject to life? What's the difference? You are about to find out!

On April 26, 1992, Darren LaCroix made his stand-up comedy debut. It was, by all accounts, a disaster. Ten years later he "out-spoke" 25,000 contestants from 14 countries in an international speech contest…and was crowned the World Champion of Public Speaking.

Think you can't be a great speaker? Think again. Darren's first performance and his championship speech are absolute proof that presenting is a learned skill.

Darren studied ten years' worth of World Champion contests over and over again. He discovered what separates the person who wins from the person who comes in second. The winners had three points in common. Want to know what they are? Come to the program and hear it directly from Darren!

"You can learn this stuff."

Light refreshments will be available. You'll also have an opportunity to learn more about the benefits of Toastmasters and how you can join the Ithaca College club.
