The Ithacan won the 2007 Online Pacemaker Award at the National College Media Conference in October. This is the second consecutive year that the newspaper has received this award.

The Pacemaker, presented each year by the Associated Collegiate Press and the Newspaper Association of America Foundation, is widely regarded as "the Pulitzer Prize of collegiate journalism," and is one of the most prestigious student journalism awards in the country.

Ithacan photographer Evan Falk '09 took first place in the convention's on-site photo competition, D.C. Portrait. He was competing against 58 photographers from other colleges attending the convention.

Falk's first-place prize was awarded for an image of a Vietnam War veteran at the Arlington National Cemetery gravesite of another soldier who had saved his life.

The paper was also recognized at the convention's Design Showcase. An Accent section cover ("Model Behavior") was featured as an example of dynamic design, and the presenters identified the paper's Accentuate and Buzzer pages as their favorite examples of creative presentation from among all the papers they had seen.
