Professor Peyi Soyinka-Airewele of the Department of Politics was recently elected vice president/president-elect of the Association of Third World Studies (ATWS) at its annual conference in Lima, Peru, where she presented two academic papers and chaired a panel.
ATWS is the largest professional organization of its kind in the world, with a global membership and chapters in South Asia and Africa. Members include scholars, practitioners, and policy makers in the United States and other countries around the world.
Professor Soyinka-Airewele will serve on the ATWS Executive Council as vice president in 2007-8 and then as president the following year.
