I have important news to share. As you will read in the below announcement from the president of Wells College, Michael McGreevey will be leaving Ithaca College to join Wells as vice president for development.
This is a great opportunity for Michael, and I support him in his decision. It is a great loss for IC. Michael has been at IC for over 18 years, and has served the College very well in a variety of positions. During the years he worked in the president's office, I know that his manner, his instincts, his professionalism, and his integrity enabled him to be effective in a multitude of duties and responsibilities. It is a pleasure to work with him. I know that we will all miss Michael, yet wish him well in his new life at Wells.
We are still working out the details, but I expect that Michael will be with us until early/mid-March 2008.

Dear Members of the Wells Community,
I am pleased to announce that Michael R. McGreevey will be joining us as vice president for development and as a member of my senior leadership team. In his new role, Michael will lead the development staff in anticipation of a transformational campaign.
For the past eight years, Michael has served as a senior adviser to the president and board of trustees of Ithaca College. As executive assistant to the president, Michael led institution-wide projects and, prior to joining the president's staff, he served as director of special programs and interim director of alumni relations in institutional advancement, and director of Ithaca College's London Center. In his 18 years at Ithaca College he has gained a wide range of experience in the development fields of prospect management, donor stewardship, development writing, event planning, and volunteer coordination. Michael earned his B.A. in communications from Bowling Green State University; his M.A. in education, higher education, and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont; and his M.S. in organizational communication from Ithaca College.
Michael brings a comprehensive approach to his work in fundraising. His intellect, integrity, and warmth position Michael to build meaningful relationships with donors, trustees, and members of our campus community. He is looking forward to joining the Wells community in March, building a development team and leading our next comprehensive campaign.
Please join the search committee -- board of trustees vice chair Pat Wahlen '66, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College Leslie Miller-Bernal, special assistant to the president for strategic initiatives and professor emeritus of religion Arthur Bellinzoni -- and me in extending Michael a heartfelt welcome to Wells.
