Dear members of the campus community,

As you know, Ithaca College will officially celebrate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday on Monday, January 21. A diverse and interesting schedule of programs is planned and the entire Ithaca College community is invited and encouraged to attend.

The spring 2008 semester officially begins on January 21 -- with an array of educational activities to start off our semester with discourse about social issues, active participation in community service, and a showcase of talent from each of our academic schools.

The day begins with a special community breakfast featuring keynote speaker MC Lyte. From there, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer for the day at a local nonprofit or attend any of the workshops sponsored by our academic and student affairs programs. In the evening, watch a special interactive theater performance from the First-Year Scholars on the civil rights movement.

End our special day with the second annual music school Celebration concert.

For planning purposes, we would appreciate your registration for any or all of the events scheduled for January 21, 2008, by visiting the website for the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement at:
https://www.ithaca.edu/csli/forms/mlkday.htm.

As a reminder to campus supervisors, please provide this information and the opportunity to participate for all employees that may be interested.

Thank you for your support of this initiative.

Sincerely,

Peggy R. Williams
President
