We don't know about you, but we are getting pretty sick of facing snow and ice on a daily basis. The best way to beat the winter "blahs" is to have something to look forward to, and we are here to assist you with that. Just wait until you hear about the incredible raffles offered this year in conjunction with the Bursar's Benefit Auction!

The staff of the newly combined Bursar's and Financial Aid Offices, now called Student Financial Services, has heard your plea for help! We are determined to bring a smile back to your faces, and have just the vehicle to do it ... incredible raffles! Start turning in bottles, saving pennies, and salting away money now! Here is what your raffle tickets could win for you:

* A money tree raffle: Only you will know how much money is cleverly disguised as leaves on this one of a kind tree! We guarantee it will be well over the cost of a ticket!

* A 50/50 raffle: You get half and we get half of all the money collected for this raffle ... how can you not love this one?!

* Our trademark chocolate basket: Every kind of chocolate-related thing imaginable is in this basket! This is guaranteed to keep you smiling through the winter blahs and into the wonderful summer!

* Our brand new gift card basket: Whoa, momma ... this baby is loaded with all sorts of goodies! With a value of over $250, the basket includes gift cards from many local establishments as well as lottery tickets and merchandise representing the cards. Is this a deal or what?

If you are extremely lucky and very clever, you can conceivably go out to dinner and a movie with a full tank of gas, come home to munch on chocolate, and lovingly count all the money on your tree and 50/50 raffle!

Now is the time to strategize! While it's still early, start gathering your raffle ticket purchase money and stay tuned to Intercom to find out where and when tickets will be sold. Get there early to make sure you have enough tickets! Don't listen to friends who say that they aren't bothering ... they are only saying that because they bought several dozen tickets the day before and don't want competition!

The sixth annual Bursar's Benefit Auction will be held on Wednesday, April 2, in Clark Lounge of Campus Center. Returning at the demand of their loyal fans, auctioneers Sam Lapp and Duane Corbin will be on hand to get the bids hopping at the live auction. If you come early, they might even give you an autograph! This year we are raising money for Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) and Southside Community Center. Let's show them both how much Ithaca cares!

As always, stay tuned to Intercom for all your auction updates. Now go cash in some returnables and start salting away your bidding money! A-ha ... we see it ... a smile has returned to your face!
