Premed Students -- MANDATORY Interview

02/19/08

Contributed by Nancy Pierce

This is an important notice for all students applying to graduate programs this summer!

Are you planning to apply to medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, or PA school, or any other health-related program this summer?

Are you a graduating senior but planning on applying to a graduate program in the health sciences in the future?

Are you going to need a letter of recommendation from the premed committee for these applications?

If the answer is YES, then you will need to interview with the premed committee this spring. Interviews are intended primarily for juniors and seniors getting ready to apply to schools this summer. Sophomores applying to early admission programs this summer would also need to interview. Graduating seniors who plan to apply in the future should also interview, so we can create a letter to keep on file.

In order to participate in the interview process, you MUST do the following:

1. You must let Jean Hardwick ([mailto:jhardwick@ithaca.edu], CNS 168) know by Friday, February 29, that you intend to interview this year. If you are a sophomore, you will need to speak with her directly to make sure that you qualify for the programs before being able to sign up for an interview.

2. You will need to prepare a resume and a draft of your personal statement to submit to Jean Hardwick BEFORE you can sign up for an interview slot.

3. You must attend the Career Services workshop on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:00 p.m. in the Office of Career Services, Gannett Center. This workshop will go over how to write a personal statement and what to expect in the interview.

4. All materials are due to Jean Hardwick by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7 -- the Friday before spring break. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!

The interviews (25-30 min in length) will take place on four evenings, generally between 7:00pm and 10:00pm:

If you have any questions, contact Jean Hardwick ([mailto:jhardwick@ithaca.edu], CNS 168, 274-3213).
