Two upcoming band concerts at Ithaca College will feature faculty soloists: the Symphonic Band, directed by Elizabeth Peterson, will welcome the five members of the Ithaca Brass on Tuesday, February 26; and the Concert Band, led by Mark Fonder, will feature percussionist Gordon Stout on Wednesday, February 27.

Both concerts are free, start at 8:15, and will take place in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

The Symphonic Band program includes music of Whitacre, Tull, Shostakovich, and others. The Concert Band program bears the theme, "The ABC's of America's Composers," and features music solely by composers whose names begin with A, B, or C, including Adler, Anderson, Barber, Bennett, Copland, and Creston.

The Ithaca Brass -- trumpeters Frank Campos and Kim Dunnick, French horn player Alex Shuhan, trombonist Harold Reynolds, and tubist David Unland -- perform a concert each semester at Ithaca College as well as throughout the region. Percussionist Gordon Stout is internationally renowned as a marimbist and composer, and performs throughout the world.
