Sophomore and Junior H&S students with outstanding academic records and financial aid eligibility are invited to apply for the Fred L. Emerson Humanities Collaboration Award that supports faculty-student collaboration on scholarly projects in the Humanities. The deadline to submit a formal proposal for projects taking place in summer 2008, fall 2008, or spring 2009 is Thursday, March 20, by 4:00 p.m.

Student applicants must be majoring or minoring in the humanities (art history, English, history, modern languages and literatures, philosophy/religion, speech communication, or writing). This award encourages both students and faculty to carry out professional collaborations in the humanities, including such projects as archival research, manuscript editing, and course development. The award offers a stipend ($1,500 during the semester and $3,000 during the summer) to enable student recipients to devote time and attention to the work required to succeed in such scholarly projects.

Both student applicants and their faculty mentors must submit materials as part of the proposal process. Guidelines and application forms can be found at https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/resources/fundingopps/emersoncollabawards/.

Questions about eligibility, specific projects, or application procedures, can be addressed to Stacia Zabusky, assistant dean, school of Humanities and Sciences (607-274-3102, [mailto:szabusky@ithaca.edu]).
