The Institute of International Education (IIE) sponsors a variety of scholarships for students planning a summer, semester, or year abroad. Deadlines are rapidly approaching for the summer and fall 2008 and/or 2008-09 academic year award cycles.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who wish to study abroad and are U.S. citizens. Students may apply for any destination worldwide, though preference will be given to applications for study outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. To be eligible you must be receiving a Federal Pell grant. Summer-only travel is not eligible. The deadline for fall 2008 or academic year 2008-09 is April 15, 2008.

Freeman-ASIA: Awards for Study in Asia
The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) program is open to undergraduate students who wish to study in East or Southeast Asia. Deadline for summer 2008 is March 5, 2008; deadline for fall 2008 or academic year 2008-09 is April 2, 2008.
