Leigh Ann Vaughn and Psychology Students Present Research

Associate professor of psychology Leigh Ann Vaughn and her current Social Judgment Research Team students (Melissa Ball, Emily Clark, Ellen Gagne, Audrey Harkness, Tanesia Harris, Shamika Jackson, Rebecca Meltzer, Rebecca Ramirez, and Gregory Spirer) presented three posters about their research at the annual convention of the Eastern Psychological Association in Boston.

Additional authors of the posters were Melahat Ozses, Elizabeth June, and Lisa Schlessinger, who were students in Professor Vaughn's research team last semester.

The presentations included:

• "Discomfort with Ambiguity and Endorsement of Entity Theory," which explored the relationships between these variables
  
  
• "The Big Five as Predictors of Dispositional Regulatory Focus: Different Relationships with Different Measures of Regulatory Focus," which investigated correlations between several measures of personality
  
  
• "When Thinking about a Person Feels Right: The Effect of Regulatory Fit on Trust," which examined how feelings of rightness can influence the trust one would place in an acquaintance

This professional conference draws attendees and presenters from colleges and universities across the northeastern United States and from several foreign countries. The students were fully supported by an H&S Educational Fund Grant of $1,000 awarded to Leigh Ann Vaughn.
