Whoa, momma ... how time flies! Do you realize in just ONE SHORT WEEK (April 2), you will be sitting with your friends, smiling out of one side of your mouth, and outbidding them for that Matthew McConaughey photo? Let's review the facts: below are the "Top 10 Reasons to Attend the Auction."

#10: Celebrities are attending ... well, at least their photos are! New this week is a photo of Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson from Law and Order: SVU! She joins Matthew McConaughey, Samuel Madison, Earl Watson, and Lauren Jackson in the celebrity ring.

#9: Gift baskets abound! Make yourself the most popular person in your crowd when you show up with one of these, cleverly passing it off as your own creation! Beautifully wrapped and all set to impress the living daylights out of friends and families, we have baskets with Webkinz toys, summer fun items, IC athletics merchandise, candles, Ithaca-themed goodies, spa, Bath and Body Works items, and a Pampered Chef pizza set (which even includes the dough!). Appear with one of these and you will be the most popular person in town!

#8: Original books personally signed by the authors! If you are into thrillers, check out Dean Koontz's book, The Face. Want to own a book hot off the press, a good candidate for a film? Bid on The Cyber Miracles. It even mentions Ithaca and Dryden!

#7: Get a front-row seat to the Sam and Duane Show! Our esteemed auctioneers can wrangle money out of a dog in obedience class! It's worth the trip just to let our favorite auctioneers entertain you!

#6: Pamper yourself beyond belief! Where else can you get a hot tub for four people for four days, or a tea basket laden with goodies, candles, spa treatments, and all sorts of creature comforts? Sit back in your new glider rocker or wing-backed chairs and sigh in contentment.

#5 WINE! FOOD! We have lots of local wine for those over 21. Support your local grape and wine industry! Accompany your wine with gourmet pies, cookies, and a Celebrate Spring Pack from IC Dining Services.

#4: Entertainment opportunities second only to Hollywood! Check out local restaurants, inns, theaters, IC Theatre, the Ithaca Guitar Works, PBS DVD mystery set, and a Ghost Hunting 101 class, complete with tour of a haunted inn!

#3: Support the arts! Check out many photos, all matted, framed, and ready to hang on your empty wall; incredible watercolors; handmade wall hangings; a beautifully crocheted baby blanket; a handmade mirror; framed and matted Ithaca College original drawings; and all sorts of local offerings. We have incredible talent in this region, and you will be smart to snap it up before the works are out of your price range!

#2: We need our office back! We have donations hanging from the rafters. Please help us reclaim our office by buying up all the donations that have become our new "office mates"!

#1: Support two wonderful local causes, Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) and the Southside Community Center, and have fun doing it. You will feel all warm and fuzzy knowing how much you have helped these groups -- trust us!

As you map your final strategy this week, please don't forget to stop by Raffle Headquarters on Friday, March 28; Monday, March 31; and Tuesday, April 1. We will be selling tickets to our four raffles in the Campus Center Lobby from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on those days. Tickets are $1 each, 5 for $3, or 20 for $10. Take your chance on a gift card basket (now worth $265!), a money tree (worth over $50), a 50/50 raffle, or a chocolate basket. How are you gonna win if you don't buy a ticket?

The Bursar's Benefit Auction will be held on Wednesday, April 2, in the Clark Lounge of Campus Center. The silent auction runs 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by the live auction from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. All money raised will be divided between our two charities. See you there!
