At 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, Kathleen Nagy '75 will present a workshop, "Harmonics for Health," in the Nabenhauer Room in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Kathleen Nagy has 18 years of professional experience as a classically trained musician. She majored in music education and applied music on French horn at Ithaca College, graduating in 1975. Nagy did her graduate work at Yale University. She has taught music in both public and private schools from elementary school through adult education.

Nagy has also studied with Sharry Edwards and has been a bioacoustic practitioner, using voice spectral analysis with clients for 12 years. She also studied with the internationally famous sound healer Sarah Benson for three years. She combines both the mathematical and esoteric aspects of sound in this presentation. Kathleen has also given workshops on toning with your voice for stress reduction and on using harmonics for meditation and health.

Her "Harmonics for Health" master class will include a PowerPoint presentation on harmonics and their effects on the human energy system, complete with aura pictures taken before and after playing harmonics. Nagy will teach techniques for creating harmonics with voice, lips, and pitch pipes. There will also be a section on how to listen to harmonics to enhance meditation. There will even be a demonstration of software that creates a personality profile report on emotional strengths and weaknesses from a one-minute voice recording.
