Parnassus Users: JRE to Replace JInitiator Software

People who have Financials and HR responsibilities in Parnassus may see digital signature and/or Java messages the first time Parnassus is launched after the Fix-it-Friday maintenance on 4/25/08. This information does not apply to users who only see "self-service" options in Parnassus.

Parnassus currently uses software called JInitiator to function properly. An application called Java Runtime Environment (JRE) will replace JInitiator, and will help eliminate technical problems related to JInitiator. JRE will download and install automatically upon first use of Parnassus after the 4/25 FIF maintenance.

Please note that Internet Explorer 6 (Windows) and Safari (Macintosh) are the recommended and supported browsers for Parnassus. Firefox may encounter version conflicts with the new JRE software, particularly on Windows machines.

Follow these steps for the digital signature/certificate message:

• Windows
  Check the Always trust content from this publisher box and then click Run.

• Macintosh
  Click the Show Certificate button, then check the Always trust these certificates box, then click Trust (if prompted to authenticate, enter the same username and password that is used for installing new software or system updates)

Follow these steps for the Java message (only applies to Windows):

• Click Accept, then click Finish when prompted
