REMINDER: Applications for the William Scoones Community Service Award and the Rashad G. Richardson Scholarship are due by noon Friday to the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement (319 Egbert Hall). William A Scoones Community Service Award

Each year two Ithaca College students are recognized with a considerable cash award for their community service efforts. This annual award recognizes Ithaca College students who have made significant contributions to the community through service work.

Criteria for the Award:

* Performed an act or acts of service that had significant impact, either on an individual or group in the Ithaca community
* Sustained service over and above normal expectations
* Positively encouraged the spirit of volunteerism and demonstrated commitment and dedication to the cause
* Fostered a positive relationship between Ithaca College and the surrounding community
* Promoted involvement of others in community service
* Maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA and be in good judicial standing at the time the award recipients are chosen and presented

Rashad G. Richardson "I Can Achieve" Memorial Scholarship

This merit scholarship is intended to recognize a high-achieving male/female Ithaca College student representing the African American, Latino/a, Asian, or Native American community (ALANA). The student receiving this scholarship will have made significant contributions toward improving the quality of life for ALANA youth in the Tompkins County community. In the event that the recipient of this award is receiving need-based loans, the award will be utilized to reduce loan indebtedness.

Criteria for the Award:

* Be an ALANA male/female student entering his/her sophomore, junior or senior year
* Be in good academic and judicial standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
* Demonstrate a record of community service with city or county youth programs

The Service Awards Committee will review applications and notify winners by April 18.
