The One Degree Closer to Climate Neutrality Campaign is a campuswide effort to save energy and lower Ithaca College's climate-changing emissions by reducing winter heating temperatures in the dormitories by one degree.
This campaign is being led by the Environmental Studies Capstone course and is in accordance with Ithaca College becoming a signatory to the American University and College Presidents' Climate Commitment to bring educational institution's net carbon emissions to zero.
Lowering the heating temperature by one degree will save the College money and decrease its climate-changing emissions. The money saved will be used to purchase and produce climate-friendly renewable energy, and to establish a fund that will provide grants for students to conduct research that focuses on helping Ithaca College achieve carbon neutrality.
The One Degree Closer to Climate Neutrality Campaign is endorsed by SGA, RHA, ICES, SFS, ICare, and REMP.
