National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6 (also known as National Nurses Day) through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The theme of this year's celebration is "Nurses: Making a Difference Every Day."

Often described as an art and a science, nursing is a profession that embraces dedicated people with varied interests, strengths, and passions because of the many opportunities the profession offers. Nurses work in a variety of settings and in many different roles -- serving all of them with a passion for the profession and with a strong commitment to patient care and safety.

The Hammond Health Center of Ithaca College recognizes the superb group of nursing professionals who make a difference every day:

Monica Anderson, RN
Cindee Daniels, RN
Jan Favaro, RN
Sarah Friga, RN
Michelle Holt, RN
Vicki Hyde, RN
Mary Kranz, RN
Janet Millspaugh, RN
Mary Taylor, RN
Erica Weiss, RN

The following nurses also assist on a per-diem basis:

Mary Jo Congdon, RN
Patty Creed, RN
Dorrie Iaculli, RN
Veronica Williamson, RN

Best wishes and many thanks to each of these dedicated professionals!
