Accounts Payable and Travel Services would like to announce that Ithaca College will be switching credit card providers in January 2009.
Our current card provider, GE Corporate Payment Services, recently was purchased by American Express; to continue with that card program, Ithaca College would be required to switch from MasterCard to American Express. We have chosen not to continue with American Express because it is not as widely accepted as Visa or MasterCard.
We recently conducted a search for another credit provider and have selected JPMorgan Chase as our MasterCard provider.
It is important to note that we will not require current cardholders who have had activity on their GE card to reapply. Any active GE cardholder will be reissued a JPMorgan Chase Mastercard procurement card and/or travel card (at a cutoff date to be announced) as long as the cardholder has had at least one transaction on the card since its issuance. As with the current system under GE Corporate Payment Services, there will be separate cards for procurement and travel.
We will release more detailed information in upcoming weeks. We regret this inconvenience but Ithaca College had no control in GE's decision or in the prior switch from Tompkins Trust Company to Elan that precipitated our switch to GE. We are hoping our relationship with JPMorgan Chase will be a long-term one.
If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact Ann Martin (274-3808) for procurement card questions or Tami Hastings (274-1480) for travel card questions.
